How to Modify Ford
Single Overhead Camshaft
Engines by David
Vizard
Over
the past 4 years I've
read many books
about tuning and
modifying engines.
Some weren't much use
but some were fantastic.
One of the most
outstanding is David
Vizard's "How to Modify
Ford Single Overhead
Camshaft Engines" and
you can read the review
for this book here.

great Engine Tuning and
Modifying books please

Enjoy!
1. How to
Modify Ford Single
Overhead Camshaft
Engines (Paperback)
by David Vizard.
This book is regarded as
the tuning Bible for
pinto engines ...and
rightfully so.
From anyone wanting a
little more power from
their unit or right
through to a
nitromethane burning
dragster engine, this
book will satisfy your
hunger for knowledge.
The book is
exceptional.
Apart from being an
aerospace engineer and
thermodynamics
scientist, David Vizard
is also an exceptional
writer. The book
is exciting, humorous
and warm - I've read it
several times and still
find myself laughing out
loud.
He breaks down the 3
key factors that affect
engine horsepower, and
explains exactly how
each should be improved
and modified to reach
the engine's maximum
potential:
- volumetric efficiency
- thermal efficiency
- mechanical efficiency
The book concentrates on these "exotic" modifications:
- in-depth cylinder head modifications
- nitro-methane injection
- nitrous-oxide injection
- turbo-charging
- supercharging
- ethanol and methanol injection
...and a lot more!
Absolutely
brilliant! This
book is out of print so
it's pretty expensive
but the good news is
that you can often find
it on Ebay at a better
price.
You'll have to enter
the name of the book in
the Ebay page that comes
up, but the Amazon link
takes you straight
there...
If you live in the US:
Ebay.com book store
and:
Amazon.com
If you live in the
UK:
Ebay.co.uk book store
and: Amazon.co.uk
The following is
another review that was
on Amazon by another
reader:
"Great insight in
Pinto engines tuning!
Covering every aspect in
tuning a Ford SOHC
engine, it's woth every
penny to the enthusiast.
Furthermore, even
non-enthusiasts can
learn from this book. In
one word: EXCELLENT!"

...and here's
a list of reviews of the
other top books I've read
- in no
particular order, they
were all great books and
well worth using. You can
still find all of them at
Amazon at time of
writing. Click on
