Here's a video I pieced together from my bullet-cam and handy cam after I spent an enjoyable couple of hours at Jaguar's Nürburgring Test Centre. I drove the XJ with the Supersport pack both on the street and on the track. Lots of fun!

I had EXACTLY 30 minutes to go 'spyshot' a new car this morning. In the end I got two... the new V8-powered 2013 Audi RS6 and the Mercedes Benz CLS 'Shooting Brake'. This is how I did it, and how you can too.

Lots of action from the first few laps of VLN#2 of 2012. You'll see Porsches, McLarens, Audis, AMGs, BMWs and more going hell for leather on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The rolling BMW is covered, briefly, as well as the two 'V' class Toyota GT86 race cars, getting ready for the 24hr no doubt!

I pull the trusty pocketcam out just as the first few drops of rain fall on Wehrseifen. An E46 driver loses control on the entry to the corner, and ends up rolling all the way around. Race was the VLN #2 of 2012 and this was only the second lap of a four-hour event!

Even though the "warm-up" lap showed a clear advantage to the new Swift, we still decided to go for it anyway. I'm trying pretty hard to be honest, and at 8m49s I didn't leave much on the table. Fredy (in the new car) went 11 seconds quicker... and he had traffic too!

The new model benefits from 11hp more power, even more torque as well as numerous detail improvements - including a rather nice 6-speed gearbox. But the question is: which one's faster? One lap on the Destination Nurburgring trackday in my project Mazda RX-8. So far my only mods are EBC Yellowstuff, de-cat and H&R springs. Tyres are still Kenda Kaisers. I'm trying hard to kill them, but the last few mm of tread appear to be made from granite...

Second-half of the lap is a nice battle against a Megane. It's a quick car, but knowledge of the track is always worth at least 100bhp ;)
