Great sound of the start-up of the 14-cylinder Wright R-2600 engines on the North American B-25 bomber. These engines are rated at approximately 1,800 horsepower. This engine also powered several other WWII aircraft including but not limited to the Douglas A-20 Havoc, Curtiss SB2C Helldiver and the Grumman TBF/TBM Avenger. LOUD, smokey and beautiful!

Beautiful sounds coming from two P-51Ds in Southern California. It must be the configuration of the the exhaust headers, but the P-51 has the best sound of all the Rolls-Royce-Merlin-e ngined aircraft, in my opinion!

These are two of the greatest WWII warbirds ever built....the North American P-51 Mustang and the Grumman F8F Bearcat. Coming from two totally different design philosophies, one based on very advanced aerodynamic design (the Mustang) and one based on the concept that given enough horsepower, everything else can be conquered (the Bearcat). Both concepts worked brilliantly. What is your opinion?
