I can highly recommend theTomTom
Oneif
you're thinking of getting a satellite
navigation system.
It works like a dream, is
inexpensive and nice and compact.
It's intuitive - in other words
it's very easy to learn to use! (It also warns
you if bears are around, by saying 'bear left'
or 'bear right'...☺)
It comes with a 12v cigarette
lighter power adaptor, a rechargeable battery, a
sucker pad base ( to locate your unit on the
windscreen - which works very well even in damp
conditions - and of course it comes with good
instructions.
I bought mine about 6 months ago,
in the Uk, when I started up my courier business
and I've had my money's worth 10 times over with
this marvellous piece of equipment. You turn it
on, type in the post code and away you go!
It's no surprise the sat navs
have been such a success...no having to read an
old map, no getting lost, no having to stop and
ask directions - and no arguments with your
passengers about which is the right way to go...
yes, you know what I mean! You just sit back
and enjoy prompt, stress-free travelling.
If you make a wrong turn it
adjusts immediately and gets you back on the
right road again.
There are six options to choose
from: go by the shortest route , go by the
quickest route, avoid motorways, use motorways
etc. , so it's up to you whether you want to
economise on time or fuel.
You can adjust the volume.
Since I bought mine, the
TomTom
One has dropped in price by around £30.00
(approx. $55) so you are getting a really good
deal here.
_______________
Tips:
1. Choose the'night'setting
with its cool blue colours; it's nice and
relaxing and very clear whilst not being too
bright.
2. You can program the
TomTom One by entering your destination address
if you know it, but entering thepost
codeis
by far the best .
3. If you're running it
on the battery alone (not using the plug into
the cigarette lighter) it will only last about 2
hours. That's not long; so make sure you have
the manufacturer's power adaptor handy at all
times and that your vehicle's cigarette lighter
works. If the cigarette lighter doesn't work
check the relevant fuse.
4. Do
not rely 100% on the TomTom's warningsof
speed camera trapsas
there are new cameras fitted regularly which the
Tom Tom will not know about!
5. Explore your TomTom One to
learn it's maximum potential! Be unusual and do
something most people don't do: read the
instruction booklet fully! If you don't want to
do that, at least skim through it so you know
what's there for future reference.
6. Always keep your
TomTom protected in some sort of box or bag -
all sat nav's are actually small computers so
they need careful treatment.
Overall, a wonderful,
user-friendly little kit that proves itself to
be a great piece of technology and a valuable
item for any 21st-century motorist to own.
